Dawa Robert is a 24-year-old young man who lost his hearing at the age of 3 due to malaria. He is a boy full of vitality and energy, capable of giving everything for his loved ones and who never gives up; however, the intense discrimination against the deaf community in Uganda and the misfortune of being born in a family with limited resources, within the generalized poverty of the country, has conditioned much of his life.
Luckily, his grandmother raised enough money to send him to Kitega Community Center at the age of 15 so that he could start studying and feel understood. Since then, he has proven to be a brilliant student with a great desire to learn and a remarkable ability to communicate despite his deafness, and he also developed a great interest in making clothes.
A year ago, when he had learned everything that school could offer him, and due to Robert's need to help his mother and younger siblings financially, he left school and started working in a chicken coop in the community. Still, the lack of time prevents her from learning and having a trade since her dream is to study a sewing course and earn a living from it, being able to help her family without having to depend on anyone.
The only school that offers sewing studies for the deaf is Mbale's School for the Deaf, and it is the one he wants to attend to improve his quality of life and do the work he likes. However, this school is costly for Ugandans who cannot afford it, so we embarked on this crowdfunding adventure to help everyone achieve their dream and lead a decent life.
Join him to make his dream come true.
