A Dignified Home for Children and Young People Forced into Prostitution to Survive

Near Tetouan, in northern Morocco, there is a small apartment where several children currently live in unsanitary conditions, with hardly any light or ventilation. They share this space with Nadia, a woman who, with enormous generosity and very few resources, takes care of them as if they were her own children.
All of them come from extremely vulnerable family situations: very young mothers, orphaned girls, or victims of violence and prostitution.

Shortly after starting the project, we faced a painful reality: more and more young people and children need a home like the one we are offering.

During a visit to the Lerchundi Cultural Center in November 2024, our team from Amb les Teves Mans witnessed this situation firsthand. Seeing those children sleep on old mattresses, without hot water, and with a play area full of garbage and syringes deeply moved us. We couldn’t look the other way.

💡 The goal: a safe and dignified home

We aim to rent a healthy and safe apartment for two years so that these children and their caregiver can live with dignity — a home with running water, ventilation, and space to play, study, and, above all, feel protected again.

Beyond paying for the rent and basic furnishings, we want to provide medical and psychological support. Many of the children have suffered trauma and need professional care to heal and grow in a healthy environment.

The project is carried out in collaboration with the Lerchundi Cultural Center, which supervises the space and provides educational, health, and social support. In addition, local professionals —a doctor and a psychologist— are involved in offering regular follow-up and care for the families.

• Rental of the apartment for two years in a safe area of Martil.

• Basic equipment (mattresses, bedding, kitchen utensils, games, books…).

• A health and psychological support fund managed by local professionals.

• Ongoing supervision through the Lerchundi Cultural Center.

• The involvement of volunteers and donors who, with small contributions, make a big difference.

💬 The real impact

Thanks to the Souad Project, we have already secured for four months a safe shelter where several children aged 0 to 14 now live.
The mothers have found a place where their children can grow up healthy, while they themselves are slowly regaining the confidence to learn, work, and rebuild their lives.

One of them, for example, has started a beauty training course that will allow her to earn an income and move away from prostitution. It’s just a small step, but for her —and for us— it means hope.
