We will share with you several stories, of the many that exist: Sneha, a girl who was sold at the age of five and treated as a slave for years, as well as being abused... Chandani, an orphan girl who tried to commit suicide in the orphanage because she had suffered abuse and who, as an adult, because she had no dowry to give to her future husband, was kept as a slave working for his family, suffering humiliation and the worst kind of suffering... Diya, who was kidnapped at the age of four at a train station and forced into prostitution every day until she escaped at the age of 15 and arrived at an orphanage with severe post-traumatic stress that prevented her from living, where she only thought about suicide... Arphana, another girl who, after being abused by her father, escaped and could only think about dying and self-harming... How many more girls and boys have to continue suffering? SOI offers them support, help, and companionship so that they can heal their traumas and regain their DIGNITY. By contributing to this challenge, you will be helping them overcome their trauma and preventing suicide and other mental illnesses caused by the trauma they have experienced. Our model of a “Psychosocial Assistance Center”—a therapy center to promote mental health in social and educational institutions—is our response to this situation.
The stories of Sneha, Chandani, Diya, and Arphana are just a reflection of the countless tragedies faced by children in different parts of the world. Stories of suffering, abuse, and despair that, although difficult to hear, need to be told to raise awareness and inspire action. At SOI, we are dedicated to providing support, assistance, and companionship to children who have experienced trauma, helping them heal their emotional wounds and regain their dignity. We know that the road to recovery is long and complex, but we are committed to being by their side every step of the way.
