Hello everyone!!!
My name is Diego Colette and today I want to share with you the end of a journey and the beginning of a new one, following the words of my father: “The beginning of a new journey can only appear at the end of the previous one.”
But, phew! This has not been just any journey. After 240 credits, 42 subjects, 5 professional internships, 2 Erasmus programs and many hours at AIESEC, the curtain closes forever.
And since it hasn't been just any journey, I don't want just any ending. Accustomed to seeing publications full of caps and diplomas these days, I have decided to change the dynamic a little.
Throughout these 4 years I have had the great fortune to work and study in different countries, obtaining a more realistic perspective of young people my age. I have witnessed a sad reality: in many corners of the world, our well-known cap is not common in June publications due to lack of opportunities. Education, which seems so much like an indispensable and untouchable good, is in certain territories a luxury.
The end of my educational stage has helped me to reflect on what I have experienced and, above all, to encourage me to act ethically with the learning acquired and with the values obtained.
For this reason, before the educational curtain is lowered forever, I will embark on one last adventure with a greater purpose: I will return to my beloved Corazonistas school, specifically to its Mozambique branch, to provide support and company to children who face daily unimaginable challenges. This educational center, with low resources, fights every day to give an opportunity to those who need it most.
Project in Mozambique
Mozambique is a country that still faces great challenges. Although the economy has improved after the civil war, 70% of the population lives below the poverty line and education remains a luxury. Life expectancy is low and the literacy rate is 36.5%. Many children cannot attend school due to lack of resources and infrastructure, and teacher training is insufficient.
In 2010, the Corazonistas Brothers arrived in Amatongas to manage the Secondary School and a boarding school for orphaned youth. Today, they serve 1,500 students at the school and 7 other centers in nearby towns, making a total of about 5,000 students. Despite improvements, the shortage of infrastructure and resources remains a challenge.
Your help is crucial to continue improving the educational and living conditions of these children.
Finally, a few words from Nelson Mandela:
"Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world."
Thank you for your help and support.
