Hello everybody,
My name is Lucía Olaizola. I am 28 years old and this Christmas I have set myself a challenge: to take a dip 28 days in a row for suicide prevention.
My little brother Javier died by suicide at the age of 15 and this will be the third Christmas that we are going to spend without him at home. As we are a small family, Christmas is a very difficult time and his absence is worst than ever. For this reason, this year I would like to honour his memory by doing a personal challenge and raising money for suicide prevention.
My challenge is to take a dip for 28 consecutive days during the winter month of December in the icy waters of the Cantabrian Sea alone or accompanied by people close to me, or people who are aware of suicide prevention and who want to do so. To inform you of my progress, I am committed to creating a bubble on my Instagram @luuolaizola (https://www.instagram.com/luuolaizola/), within my highlights, called #UnBañoPorJavier, where I will upload a story every day of the dip and I will add photos with the people who have decided to get wet with me for the cause.
All the funds raised from this campaign will go to the association "BIDEGIN, bereavement and advanced illness support service in Gipuzkoa". BIDEGIN has been working since its beginnings for the prevention of suicide and the accompaniment of survivors after the death by suicide of a loved one, as has been my case and that of my family. And for this reason, here is my contribution towards them for all the help received.

Bidegin nacio en el 2010 con el objetivo de crear un espacio para mejorar la calidad de vida de las personas que afrontan un proceso de duelo por la pérdida de un ser querido por suicidio o por enfermedad avanzada en Guipuzkoa.
Entre los objetivos más importantes de la organización además de los acompañamientos terapéuticos, se encuentra el de la psicoeducación a nivel comunitario por medio de charlas, acciones comunitarias, o talleres vivenciales donde el objetivo es normalizar y hacer visible el proceso de duelo, así como crear comunidades más cuidadoras, conscientes y compasivas en nuestro entorno más cercano.
Bidegin cuenta con varios programas individuales y colectivos al servicio comunitario como son los programas asistenciales y grupos de apoyo mutuo terapéuticos, donde poder elaborar de forma compartida desde la seguridad, confidencialidad y reciprocidad entre iguales el sufrimiento que acarrea este tipo de vivencias como lo es la muerte por suicidio de un ser querido.
