Thank you for choosing this option. Nuri's amazing Mum and Peter's lovely Dad have both succumbed to different forms of this horrendous disease. As a result, neither one will be attending our marriage - an event we had individually both always imagined they would see our whole lives.
Dementia takes away a loved relative from their entire family. Mike - Peter's Dad - lived to help people; in the earlier stages of the disease while he was still aware of what was happening to him, he wept at the idea that he could never again do this. Cati - Nuri's Mum - was a teacher who taught children to read and write but who is now unable to speak. Both fought the disease bravely, but neither were able to halt its horrific progress.
IDIBAPS and El Clinic are leading a charge into a new tomorrow where amazing people like them are not taken from their families. Both Nuri and Peter believe in a future where all of their parents would have been able to attend their wedding; where the pain of this early loss becomes itself a distant memory.
