Did you know that pediatric cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children?
Did you know that academic research is not backed by the pharmaceutical industry because it is considered an unattractive market?
Every year 400,000 children are diagnosed with pediatric cancer and 90,000 will lose their battle worldwide. Despite these figures, childhood cancer is considered an orphan disease.The market is too small to capture the attention of major pharmaceutical companies and venture capital funds. Consequently, only seven drugs are initially designed and approved for treating pediatric cancer, a stark contrast to the more than 200 available for adults.. This challenging scenario leaves numerous children without adequate treatment options, confronting an uncertain and difficult future.
What if we told you that we could give hope to those children and adolescents who have already exhausted all their treatment options?
The good news is that Oncoheroes Biosciences, a biotech company exclusively dedicated to developing new therapies for childhood cancer, is now ready to start an international clinical trial to test the efficacy of Volasertib. Volasertib is a drug that has the therapeutic potential to treat five types of pediatric cancers (Ewing's Sarcoma, medulloblastoma, neuroblastoma, rhabdomyosarcoma and diffuse midline glioma (DIMG), including diffuse intrinsic stem glioma (DIPG)). This trial is designed for those children and adolescents who have already exhausted all their treatment options. Funding is the only obstacle to starting it.

La Fundación, que se dedica a apoyar a los niños y niñas enfermos de cáncer así como a sus familias, tiene un fuerte compromiso con Oncoheroes, la única empresa exclusivamente dedicada al desarrollo de nuevos medicamentos para oncología pediátrica.
Fundación Olivares es una organización sin ánimo de lucro malagueña destinada a ofrecer apoyo a las familias con niños/as y adolescentes enfermos de cáncer u otra patología crónica. Los servicios ofrecidos son totalmente gratuitos para las familias, entre ellos caben destacar psicología, fisioterapia, logopedia, nutrición, reiki, actividades lúdico-educativas y apoyo escolar. Nuestro objetivo es mejorar la calidad de vida de los niños o adolescentes enfermos de cáncer u otras patologías crónicas y de sus familiares.
