From an idea suggested in the staff room to a full blown event, the keen teachers of Zaragoza's Number 16 English academies have come together to run this year's local 10k / Marathon. We've trained, we've been in pain, we've complained, we've been under strain, we've (again) complained ... but our tenacity can not be contained! [Sorry, enough with the rhymes ... they will not be sustained].

One of the services Number 16 provides is In Company English classes, and it is through this link that we have come to know Atades. They were mentioned early in the planning process for this event, and we all agreed to have a fantastic organization worthy of our most generous donations. They inspire us all to better, and to train harder.

Atades, the Aragón Association of Intellectual Disability, is a private entity oriented to the care and protection of people with intellectual disabilities throughout their life cycle. They provide a range of services including: an early care center, special education centers, residences, sheltered housing, day centers, occupational workshops, special employment centers and a leisure and free time club.

Providing purpose in the lives of some of our society's most vulnerable people is a great undertaking, and a noble mission statement. It does not come easily, and funding is always necessary to provide the best services possible. At present they are looking to build a new school, which would provide education for small children up to adults of 21 years old. On a smaller scale, new technology such as smart boards and tablets could provide a world of difference to the lives and education of many people in their care.

Any donations will be greatly appreciated, and will go a long way not only financially but in the hearts and minds of those people, and families, who Atades works alongside every day.

Thank you very much.
