During our 15 days of volunteering in Senegal, our lives changed. We came face to face with a harsh reality, one that’s invisible to many: that of the Talibé children.
These children, from a very young age, are sent far from their homes to attend Quranic schools, but in many cases, they end up living on the streets, forced to beg in order to survive. They walk barefoot, without hygiene, without medical care, and with none of the basic care that any child deserves.
They have deep, powerful eyes, with an admirable strength… but their childhood is shattered.
We — Candela, María, Jorge, Pablo, Nicolò, Enzo, and Gonzalo — decided we couldn’t just stand by. After living alongside them, listening to them, hugging them, and seeing the conditions they live in, we knew something real had to be done.
That’s why this solidarity challenge was born.
Our goal is simple: to raise funds to build a center for the Talibé children — a safe space where they can bathe, have access to hygiene products, receive care, play, rest, and, most importantly, feel like children again.
We want to give them back a little of what the system has taken from them: dignity.
We’re not asking for pity. We’re asking for awareness.
We’re not seeking applause. We’re seeking support.
Because while we talk about rights here, there are children over there who don’t even have water to wash their hands.
Why this challenge?
Because we can’t look the other way anymore.
Because we believe action starts with raising awareness and continues with building change.
Because they deserve better.
This center is just the beginning.
