I finally have decided to run my first Marathon and there is nowhere better to do this than in New York!

One of the main reasons is to raise funds for my friends at Amsudan, a Spanish based NGO that promotes education through the construction of schools in South Sudan.

As you all know me so well, you know that I am reluctant to ask close friends and family for money, but this is something I am passionate about and is a way to challenge and motivate me for a good cause.

Amsudan is now 12 years old and since inception, its founder, Father Antonio Aurelio Fernandez and all its members have provided education to 9,400 girls and boys through the construction of 12 schools, 2 female centers and a kindergarten. They have also built water wells and plough systems, and bought ATVs and generators, etc... to improve the living conditions of the people who live in South Sudan.

Amsudan firmly believes in education as the most effective way to contribute in the defense of human rights and social and economic welfare, and I share their views. I have been collaborating with Amsudan for years and I can only speak highly of the quality and dedication of the Amsudan team.

My objective is to finish the New York City Marathon in a decent time (remember, it´s my first!!!). I have been training for months and I am sure I will complete it, in part motivated by your support, as well as knowing that I am helping deserving girls and boys.

Please help me achieve my goal with a donation. Every dollar, pond and euro counts!

I will keep you updated with my race results and the projects funded with your generosity.

Thank you so much!

The payment process is done through a Spanish Crowdfunding platform called migranodearena.com. While it is user friendly in Spanish, the English version is a pure translation and needs some guidance to go through the payment process. A few tips:

- you can pay by credit card (which the platform calls "Banking TPV") or by paypal

- you will be asked for your passport number. You do not need to write it. Just type any number

- you will be asked for your last name twice. (in Spain we use our mother's maiden name). Just type anything

- if you are donating from the UK, when you type your country of origin you will need to type England,  Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland

- unfortunately the crowdfunding platform only can offer tax certifications for Spain.

- your credit card will show a donation to LA FUNDACION REAL DREAMS. It is OK. It is the name of the NGO who owns the crowdfunding platform. They collect the money and will wire it to Amsudan once a month. They do not charge fees for this service

If you have any questions please email me to borja@arteaga.net

Hi Borja (aka Boris! :-))
am so impressed. Marathons are not a joke and preparation is a real commitment. Run like the wind and give generously to AmSudan.

I raised £25k for similar charity last year Walk In Her Shoes, to get young women back into schools by digging wells in villages. The motivation is inspiring!

Warmest,
-Niko
