Help us treat Flash of FIP

Our Flash has FIP.

Flash is one of Mikka's babies. He was at the shelter with us last year and we fell in love with him: he was a playful, very active and affectionate cat. He was adopted, but unfortunately his luck didn't last for long. A few months after his adoption he started to have constant fever and this summer his family gave him to us so that we could keep doing medical tests while they were on vacation.

Although none of the tests indicated FIP as clearly as Oreo's, the symptoms fit: lethargy, weakness, constant fever, uveitis, and physical discoordination. So already desperate we decided to give it a chance and start the FIP treatment. Fortunately we were right and Flash was starting to improve.

We have finally assumed his indefinite custody and we are continuing with his treatment.

FIP is an acronym for Feline Infectious Peritonitis, a disease that, if not detected and treated quickly, is fatal. The treatment consists of daily pills for 84 days (if everything goes well) + 84 days of observation, in case the disease manifests itself again.

This treatment is very expensive, we estimate that just the pills will cost us around €2,000, an expense that as an association we cannot assume. That's why we had to create this solidary challenge, to be able to pay for the treatment and get our playful Flash back.
