Right now, in western Nepal, there are women trying to move from surviving to being able to decide about their own lives.
Many of them have never had the opportunity to make decisions for themselves.
For many, this is the first time.
They have experienced child marriage, violence, abandonment, or have been widowed at a very young age.
They have no access to their own income or a clear alternative.
That’s why, at be artsy, we are supporting 12 women through a very concrete process: training in tailoring and sewing.
They come from very remote areas.
That’s why, during the training, we also cover accommodation and food, because otherwise they would not be able to access it.
At the end of the process, each woman will take a sewing machine back to her community to start working.
