Óscar and Roberto, two athletes with type 1 diabetes and founders of the Mylap Bikes project, embark on one of the most extreme challenges in cycling: The Transcontinental Race (TCR), a self-sufficient race, considered the toughest in the world in its category, which will travel more than 4,500 kilometers from Santiago de Compostela to Constanza (Romania), crossing 7 European countries, in just 17 days.

The challenge has a solidarity purpose: anyone can “sponsor” kilometers or stages and the proceeds will be used to provide scholarships to other patients with diabetes who want to participate in the second edition of the “Making the Camino” project, organized by the Novo Nordisk Health Foundation (FSNN) and the Spanish Diabetes Federation (FEDE).

The initiative wants to make visible that practicing sports and good glycemic control allow people with diabetes to lead a fully active and healthy life.

Kilometers that add health for other patients

The challenge will serve to raise funds for “Making the Camino”, the FSNN and FEDE project in which 100 people with diabetes will travel 101.7 km of the Portuguese Camino de Santiago along the Coast from September 15 to 20.
