About the NGO

"Dakar por la Vida" is a socially responsible project born from the union of Rafael Lesmes and his team with the Fundación Carrera por la Vida. The Foundation is a solidarity initiative created in 2005 and registered in the Register of Canary Islands Foundations under number 349, which works to respond to the needs and demands of individuals and families affected by breast cancer, and to raise awareness of the importance of early detection of breast cancer.

Rafa Lesmes and his CUP 59 team are starting preparations to take part in the toughest and most adventurous motor race: the Dakar 2024, this time in a big pink truck. After the 2023 edition, the DAKAR FOR LIFE 2024 renews its commitment and social responsibility, and this year increases its action also supporting the Association of Male Breast Cancer Patients (INVI), so the DAKAR FOR LIFE will be dedicated to raise awareness, funds and support for the projects MENTE ROSA and ARDERNE

For the Race for Life Foundation, mental health is fundamental, which is why it needs to set up the MENTE ROSA project, a psychological care service for people affected by breast cancer through individualised care, family therapy and the coordination of support groups for those affected.

For its part, the Association of Male Breast Cancer Patients (INVI) is joining forces and efforts to make patients more visible and raise awareness among men who may also suffer from breast cancer. INVI is seeking funding for the oncological research project on breast cancer in men promoted by GEICAM, which is the first registry in Spain, and the ARDERNE project, which will enable the situation and characteristics of this population to be analysed and their diagnosis and treatment to be improved.

The Dakar Por La Vida 2024 project, which is supported by the European network against breast cancer THINK PINK EUROPE, is preparing to set off in January 2024 and once again be an example of commitment and awareness of male and female breast cancer. Dakar 2024: the goal is the road.
