Every spring/summer we experience a true influx of abandoned, orphaned, or rescued street kittens. Many arrive at just a few days or weeks old, prematurely separated from their mothers and in a state of extreme vulnerability.
These little ones need constant care, special feeding, warmth, and, above all, a safe environment to recover. But there is a factor that often goes unnoticed and can make the difference between life and death: preventing the spread of diseases.
For health reasons, we cannot mix different litters of kittens. When we rescue a new litter, we do not know if any of its members are incubating an infectious disease. If they were to share a space with other kittens, contagion would be practically inevitable. And in animals so small, with an immune system still very weak due to the lack of maternal protection, an infection can have devastating consequences.
That is why we urgently need to expand our equipment with 6 veterinary hospitalization cages, specifically designed to house and care for each litter independently and safely.
These cages will allow us to:
· Keep different litters separated.
· Drastically reduce the risk of disease transmission.
· Provide proper veterinary care to sick kittens or those under observation.
· Increase their chances of survival and recovery.
The cost is very high for a shelter like ours: each cage costs approximately €830, and we need 6 units, bringing the total cost to €5,000.That is why we are asking for your help.
Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to our goal of having the necessary space to protect hundreds of kittens during the breeding season. Together we can prevent infections, save lives, and offer a real opportunity to the smallest and most defenseless.

La Societat Protectora d'Animals de Mataró (spAm), trabaja desde el año 1971 con el objetivo de acoger, amparar y promover la adopción de animales abandonados. Gestionamos centros de acogida con una filosofía proteccionista, y luchamos hasta el final por la vida de los animales.
En Abril de 2010, la Sociedad Protectora de Animales de Mataró, creó la Fundació Daina con la finalidad de generar herramientas para trabajar para el proteccionismo y desarrollar proyectos capaces de favorecer el bienestar y la dignidad de los animales abandonados.
La Fundación Daina conjuga cinco líneas de trabajo y acción: atención veterinaria digna, programas de recuperación y socialización de animales maltratados o mal socializados, educación para el bienestar animal, comercio solidario y proyectos con la administración pública.
Nuestros proyectos: Espacio veterinario para animales de refugios y protectoras, Proyecto Vincles para la recuperación de animales maltratados, Escuela solidaria Daina y Encantes Solidarios.
