Bombers Solidaris (Charity Firefighters) launch a campaign to help the people of Gaza buy food and water tanks.
THE SITUATION:
As we all know, the situation in the Gaza Strip is dire. On August 22, the UN declared a famine in Gaza, the first time a country outside of Africa has experienced this situation.
This time, however, it is a famine caused by the Israeli army and population, who block supply and humanitarian aid trucks at the border. The few that are allowed through are often attacked by the starving population before they reach distribution points.
These products reach the people of Gaza at very high prices.
Various members of Bombers Solidaris have been following the stories of some families for months and contributing financially with whatever they can. We have seen the escalating food prices; we have been sent images when new products arrived on the market, such as chickens, which were sold for €100 each. There have been times when a vegetable or fruit could cost more than €10.
THE PROJECTS:
Currently, we wholeheartedly support two projects that have been launched there and have been running for weeks.
One is a community food kitchen led by AYA_E_ZED @aya_e_zed, who explains that each pot of food they make costs €500, including exchange fees and everything included. Each pot of food can feed 40 families.
The other project is led by young Ammar @ammar_gaza21, who is in charge of hiring trucks to transport water to cisterns or tanks in the camps where families can fill their containers. A 16,000-liter tanker also costs approximately €500 and benefits 200 families.
We'll forward your donations to our "ambassadors" in Gaza, who will make the purchases and send us video and photo evidence of the deliveries.
Bombers Solidaris es un grup que es va formar a principis d'Abril de 2016 sota el paraigües de l'ACE de Bombers de Barcelona amb dos objectius, primer, disposar d'una font de finançament col·lectiva que pogués donar suport a totes les iniciatives solidaries que ja existeixen dins de bombers i segon, tenir un grup que aglutines tota aquesta força i que servís per crear sinergies entre els diferents projectes així com atraure més gent del col·lectiu a participar i animar-los a proposar noves iniciatives.
