Hello! My name is Carme.
A little more than one year ago, after a routine mammography and a few more tests, the doctors diagnosed me with triple negative breast cancer affecting the ganglia.Until I got the final diagnosis I lived weeks of uncertainty and concern, not only for my health, but especially for my whole family.
There have been many months of intense and tough treatments – chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy and immunotherapy– but they allowed me to say goodbye to cancer.
The journey felt long, but I didn’t walk it alone. My husband and my kids, 15 and 12 year old, accompanied me, as well as my cousins, my friends and my colleagues. And also people that I did not expect, but that have come closer and made me feel so loved. To all of them: THANK YOU!
I also want to give a heartfelt thanks to Fundació Kālida, to their professionals and volunteers, for all the accompaniment that they offer to people with cancer and their families. I stepped into Kālida for the first time without knowing what I was looking for, and I found a warm hug in my soul, women and men with whom I could share all the worries that are hard to express with the loved ones, and activities and workshops that allowed me to meet people that were going or had gone through similar situations. It has been a place where not only I have received support and gave some, but where I’ve had laughs and fun, and where I’ve made new friendships.
Exercise has also had an important role in my process. It has helped me to stay active, to manage better the effects of the treatments and to keep my head up with strength and optimism. This is why, along my son Akshai, we have set ourselves a very special challenge: to walk the last five stages of the French Route to Santiago de Compostela.🚶🚶🏾 It is 114 kilometres, and we would like them to be good for something else than to get blisters on our feet! We want to give visibility and support to Fundació Kālida in their aim to give emotional, social and practical support to people with cancer and their relatives.
👉 How can you help? You can collaborate with a free donation, according to your possibilities, thus helping Kālida to keep growing and giving support to more and more people.
Our objective is to reach € 1,000, the equivalent to half the price to keep Kālida Sant Pau open for a day, offering free and comprehensive support to up to 100 people.
What if we exceed that amount? 👏 It will be a huge joy! Every donation counts and helps Kālida to stay a place for care and accompaniment for so many people.
This challenge is not just about walking. It is about gratitude, about sharing and about transforming a personal experience into something that can help others.

Te acompañamos con el cáncer
La Fundació Kālida promueve un modelo de asistencia psicosocial para pacientes con cáncer centrado en la persona. Gratuito y sin cita previa. Su objetivo es crear centros, situados a pocos metros de los Servicios de Oncología de los hospitales públicos de referencia en tratamientos del cáncer, en espacios para acoger y acompañar a las personas que lo necesiten, así como a sus familiares, amigos y cuidadores. Kālida se inspira en el modelo de atención de la ONG britànica Maggie's y forma parte de su red internacional de centros. El primer centro es Kālida Sant Pau, que abrió sus puertas en mayo de 2019 junto al Hospital de Sant Pau de Barcelona.
Con el impulso de la Fundació Privada Nous Cims y la Fundació Privada Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau.

We are here with you in your journey with cancer
The Fundació Kālida promotes a model of psychosocial care for people with cancer and focuses on them, not their disease. Free of charge and with no need to pre-schedule. Its aim is to create centers (located near Oncology Services of renowned cancer treatment public hospitals) with spaces to welcome and accompany people who need it as well as their relatives, friends British NGO Maggie's, and is part of its international network of centers. The first center inaugurated is Kālida Sant Pau, which opened its doors in May 2019 on the premises of the Hospital de Sant Pau in Barcelona.
