Since 2006, nutrition and healthcare have been core pillars of our work, as they are essential for children’s physical, emotional, and psychological development. At our Day Centers, we strive to provide them with the security they need to grow because only with this foundation can a child play, dream, laugh, and study.
Every contribution matters. To give you an idea:
- With €15, five children can receive all the vaccinations they need.
- With €120, we can provide a year of healthy, complete meals for one child.

More About the Day Centers
In Pune, India, 35 million people work in construction as unskilled laborers, moving from city to city and site to site in search of temporary, poorly paid jobs. At each construction site, between 30 and 80 families settle in makeshift slum communities. Here, children spend their days unsupervised, exposed to vulnerable conditions, often out of school and resorting to child labor or begging to supplement family income.
Asha-Kiran Day Centers are dedicated to these children. At each center, we:
- Provide guidance and support to families for the school enrollment of children and adolescents.
- Offer tutoring to ensure academic success and reduce school dropouts.
- Deliver childcare services for early childhood development and train parents on these topics.
- Conduct health check-ups for children and adolescents.
- Provide balanced daily meals for all children.
- Organize various activities and programs to promote children’s rights, empowering them and their families to understand these rights, develop self-protection skills, and enjoy a fulfilled childhood.

Fundación Asha-Kiran, founded in 2006, has almost two decades of experience promoting the well-being, inclusion, and protection of vulnerable children and youngsters in India, Spain, and, more recently, Senegal. Since its inception, the organization has focused on education, protection, community support, and access to real opportunities that allow each individual to develop their life project with self-respect.
In India, Asha-Kiran has promoted pioneering programs for migrant children and extremely impoverished communities, by developing Day Care Centers, safe educational spaces, and health and nutrition programs for thousands of children. This journey has led to the “Young Achievers” program, which continues to support higher education and technical training for young people who grew up in our Centers, thus consolidating a long-term transformative model. In recent years, Asha-Kiran has supported thousands of children and families with help of a specialized local technical team that guarantees quality, continuity, and solid community roots.
In 2025, Asha-Kiran extended its mission to Spain with the creation of Proyecto Vínculos, a social inclusion initiative launched in Malaga for young migrants, asylum seekers, refugees, and youngsters out of institutional care. This program has grown rapidly thanks to an extensive network of volunteers and partnerships with leading social organizations, offering Spanish classes by levels, digital literacy, social and employment guidance, community activities, and an innovative Mentors Program. The facility, provided by volunteers, has become a place for meeting, learning, and mutual aid that fosters the creation of real support networks.
This international expansion is now complemented by the new “From the Street to the Classroom” project in Senegal, which focuses on protecting and providing access to fundamental rights to street children. Once the Day Care Center is completed, Asha-Kiran will offer medical care, educational support, nourishment, and social support, replicating the lessons learned over nearly twenty years of work in India.
The combination of international experience, adaptation to new contexts, and the ability to build stable community networks is the hallmark of Asha-Kiran. Our approach is based on human dignity, close support, and the creation of educational and employment opportunities that drive real and sustainable changes. In India, Spain, and Senegal, Fundación Asha-Kiran works alongside local communities, partner organizations, and volunteers to promote a more equitable, humane, and caring world, where every child and youngster can build a future for themselves.
