#Mask4Health, Let's Fight COVID19 in Nepal with Reusable Masks + Soap + information
Women from remote communities in western Nepal are sewing face masks to protect the entire community. Shall we help them?
Cause lead by
Category
The first objective of this crowdfunding was to reach 2018 euros in order to get the €1500 of the Matchfunding #T2M and thus have the necessary amount for the material to sew the masks. ACHIEVED !!
WE HAVE FEW DAYS LEFT! LET US GO FOR ANOTHER OBJECTIVE?
Feed 800 widows + their children for 14 days!
The rice, oil, lentils, salt, sugar and soap that we are distributing to WIDOW WOMEN with children in the same villages will cost us: 2,764 euros. Should we all try? Food for 1 person for 14 days = 3.5 euros
Let's help them! Remember that there are Rewards!

be artsy is an NGO which was founded by volunteers in 2016 and whose main objective is to create social projects using art as a tool through which those we work with realise for themselves both their strengths and their weaknesses and can decide whether or not they want to make changes. Our aim is to work with the maximum respect for cultures and diversity.
We are working in Nepal, a country which has survived earthquakes, floods, problems with its neighbours, wars, corruption and infectious illnesses. Nepals residents are resilient and they always welcome you with a smile even if they only have one plate of rice to eat that day.
Our biggest project to date has been the Rato Baltin Project (the Red Bucket project). In remote and little known areas of Western Nepal, there is an ancient tradition known as Chhaupadi, a tradition which has been deadly for many women, and which believes that women are impure when they are menstruating, forcing them to sleep outside or in small shacks built for this purpose. This tradition results in many restrictions on what a girl/women can or cannot do whilst they are menstruating and after they’ve given birth and it takes away their dignity.
Every year there are many deaths from hypothermia, suffocation and snake bites and nobody knows of the real number of girls who are raped.
The Rato Baltin project facilitates sexual and menstrual education, creates curiosity and raises questions through participative photography and provides menstrual cups to many women and girls, making their lives that little bit easier. The project also affects the lives of many boys and others living in these remote areas of the west of Nepal.
Since 2017 we have reached more than 13, 900 people, mostly girls and women. We’ve worked with 18 different villages. We have worked to make sure that the projects are led locally by 30 girls from these remote regions, empowering them by providing them with work and paying for the costs of high school and university for those who would otherwise be forced to marry when they reached 16 years of age. (EDUFEM project)
In 2020, COVID19 reached these regions of Nepal. Some of the towns where we’ve been working for the last four years have made urgent appeals for help in acquiring basics such as food and masks to protect all those in the community. The limited access available to clinics and hospitals in these remote regions means that the population is at a higher risk than in other parts of the country.
The Government has forgotten them. They have not been sent medical equipment or food and they have been in lockdown since March. And with many Nepalis working in India and being forced to return to Nepal when they have found themselves without work (often walking thousands of kilometres) the virus has moved with them, spreading the disease to these remote areas.
The objective of this crowdfunding is to help these communities buy the necessary material to make masks that will help to prevent and diminish the threat that COVID19 will spread to
three of the most remote of these villages in the West of Nepal and that the women from these communities can be involved in making: reusable masks + soap + information.
Through our project we wish to make sure that:
10,575 people receive reusable masks
1,598 homes receive soap
10,1575 people will receive information on how to protect themselves from Covid-19
The material to make masks for one family + soap costs 2,20 euros.
1,598 families x 2,20 = 3,518 euros.
3,518€ - 1,500€ from Matchfunding #T2M (with your help we can have this money) = 2018 euros is the amount we need to receive from this crowdfunding!!!

Through art, education and community-based work, it supports projects that enable people to express themselves, participate and create change within their communities.
One of its main projects is Rato Baltin, which has been working in western Nepal since 2017 to promote menstrual dignity, education, sexual and reproductive rights, and the autonomy of women, girls and adolescents. The project combines menstrual education, participatory photography, community training, support for girls’ continued education, and women-led economic opportunities.
Rato Baltin is not only about distributing menstrual cups: it supports long-term change in communities where menstruation is still surrounded by taboos, restrictions and discriminatory practices such as chhaupadi. Led by the local team in Nepal, be artsy helps ensure that more women and girls can experience menstruation with health, safety and dignity, and move towards lives with more opportunities and decision-making power.
