Delivery of the migranodearena Awards

15 July 2020

Yesterday, Tuesday, July 14, we finally celebrated the IX edition of the migranodearena Awards. It was a great online event that we carried out through the Zoom platform. The awards should have been held on March 26 in person, and had to be canceled due to COVID19.

The migranodearena Awards were created in 2011 and aim to recognize and reward people, social organizations and companies that have carried out successful crowdfunding campaigns through our platform. The winners are chosen by popular vote among the best crowdfunding campaigns of the year.

In this edition, a stub of # 1000 € has been awarded to the best social crowdfunding campaigns of the year 2019:

1.- Carlos López Fernández with 987 votes was the winner in the category of “Most Supportive Person”. Carlos led a sporting and solidarity challenge “Tot és possible Arlet” with which he managed to raise € 3,583 in favor of the NEN Association (Children with Neuroblastoma). This award was especially emotional because it had the presence and intervention of Roser Parcerisa, mother of Arlet, the brave protagonist of the challenge, who died last week, a victim of Neuroblastoma. We thank Roser with all our heart for her strength and the nice words with which she thanked us for the award.

2.- In the category "Most Active NGO", the award went to DENEU (Association of Neurotransmitter Diseases). Thanks to the € 3,885 they managed to raise with their challenge "Estimulació elèctrica cerebral per a nens amb malalties dels neurotransmissors", fifteen children were able to participate in the study of personalized electrical brain stimulation at Sant Joan de Déu Hospital . This candidacy has had the support of 835 votes.

3.- Finally, and for the second consecutive year, the company Auxadi won the award for the "Most Committed Company" with its “Torneig de futbol Sala Solidari. got 416 votes, and most importantly, 39,280 euros which were allocated to the Learning Foundation.

The "La causa del mes" Award, jointly promoted by Migranodearena and Obra Social "la Caixa", was also presented to highlight the work and effort of other organizations fighting for social causes.

This year has certainly been marked by the pandemic of COVID-19, for this reason, we chose the theme of COVID-19 for our presentations:

Quique Bassat pediatrician specializing in International Health and Epidemiology, with his paper: "Against COVID19, children are the key," he told us how COVID19 affects children, and the transmission capacity they have. He told us about the study he is carrying out at the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu in Barcelona. Quique ended his presentation by giving guidelines and recommendations on how to deal with children's return to school in September.

Núria Vilamajó, , head of the Patronage area of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, explained how during this health crisis the best of society has emerged in the worst of times. The Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, a leading hospital for COVID issues in Spain, launched the Coronavirus Response campaign a day before the State of Alarm came into force. Núria explained that the key elements of the success of the campaign were anticipation, agility in change, ability to adapt and organize, and above all the great involvement of society as a whole. Also among those attending the webinar we will be raffling off a candle with the new Migranodearena logo and a solidarity box, with the new web design.

Thanks to our sponsors, Obra Social "la Caixa" and the real estate developer North Peak, in the Migranodearena Awards we were able to distribute € 9,000 in favor of social causes.

In addition, for the first time in the history of Migranodearena, we raffled among the attendees a candle with the new Migranodearena logo and a solidarity box, with the new web design. These have been the lucky ones:

Marta Anglada winner of the sail with the new Migranodearena logo.

Betlem Luid winner of a solidarity box valued at € 25.

We are very happy to have managed to hold such an emotional gala, despite the inconveniences of having to be held online, and to see that the spirit of solidarity of Migranodearena shines more than ever between so much uncertainty and darkness. Thanks!
