After almost 2 years since my last marathon, I decided to return back to running and completing challenges. What a better way of starting than in San Sebastian, where I've never been yet, and supporting the Spanish Association against Cancer!

So you can know more about who are you contrubuting to, the Spanish Association against Cancer, is a non-profit, private social entity which has been declared of public utility. It was founded in 1953. The mission of the AECC is the fight against cancer leading the efforts of the Spanish society to decrease the impact of this disease and to improve the people’s quality of life. Four main strategic pillars guide the activities of the association: information & awareness, cancer patients support, research, and advocacy & lobbying. It is a nation wide organisation with 52 provincial delegations and more than 2.000 local delegations. The association counts on more than 109.000 members, 14.000 volunteers and 730 workers to develop its activities. In 1971, the AECC established its Scientific Foundation which main purpose is to improve cancer research in Spain. The Asociacion Española Contra el Cancer became a full UICC member in 1962.
Somos una organización sin ánimo de lucro formada por pacientes, familiares, voluntarios, colaboradores y profesionales. Desarrollamos nuestra actividad en toda España.
Lideramos el esfuerzo de la sociedad española para disminuir el impacto causado por el cáncer y mejorar la vida de las personas.
Disminuir el impacto del cáncer en la sociedad sólo puede conseguirse con un enfoque integral, por eso cuidamos la salud de todos, estamos junto a las personas afectadas e impulsamos una investigación de calidad.
Desarrollamos programas y actividades educativas para fomentar hábitos de vida saludables dirigidos a la prevención del cáncer. El consumo de tabaco y alcohol se incrementa en nuestros jóvenes, la dieta mediterránea está siendo relegada por la comida rápida, estar bronceado es más atractivo que protegerse. Queremos que los niños y jóvenes tomen las riendas de su salud y adquirieran comportamientos sanos que puedan incluir en su día a día casi sin darse cuenta.
