Birthday fundraiser for the amazing Cancer Support Group Mallorca
Using my birthday as a fundraising opportunity for the CSG, which has been such a support to me over the past few months since my diagnosis.

The CSG is the only English-speaking cancer charity in Mallorca, and they are run almost entirely by volunteers - with just one permanent staff member!
The Spanish health system is wonderful, but navigating cancer treatment in a second language adds a huge extra layer of difficulty and worry, even with a good command of the Spanish language. So I can't tell you the difference it's made having an English-speaking team of kind, caring, knowledgeable people to turn to.
The CSG helps in so many ways, both for those with cancer and their families.
From counseling, nutritional support, buddy systems, cancer 'experts' you can talk to at length, etc, to administrative and logistical support such as home or hospital visits, food deliveries, transport to & from appointments, translators, help with claiming benefits, sorting social security and/or insurance paperwork, and general bureaucracy help. They even have an amazing selection of brand-new top-quality wigs you can take completely free. And a huge directory of other useful contacts, companies, and charities.
Honestly, so far - any question or concern I've had, the CSG has been able to help or point me in the right direction. And the people I've met and spoken with have all been so generous with their time, often speaking to me for well over an hour at a time.
The CSG is a small charity with an ever-increasing demand, and they need more and more funds to cover the costs of providing these amazing resources to those of us going through cancer on the island.
I'll definitely be volunteering and doing what I can once I'm out the other side of this, but for now asking my friends and family to help me in financially supporting them, just because they are so helping me, is the best I can do :)
Somos una asociación pequeña que ayudamos a pacientes extranjeros con cáncer con apoyo emocional, nutricional, etc en su propia idioma, además de traductores, tratamientos suplementarios y ayuda practica en la casa.
