The Shree Prajasbaty Basic School is growing.  In 2016 we started with 30 kids, and we built a very basic installation for 4 classrooms.  In a second phase another building was built for an additional 4 new classrooms, up to class 6.  We started with a sewing workshop for the women, and we installed a kitchen.

The number of students continues to grow, this year, 2023 we already have 145 students, a staff of 9 teachers and a group of 15 women that come to the sewing workshop every day.

Two years ago, the Nepali government declared our school as a model for the district.  This implied that the schools had to be gradually growing up to class 8, and there for the total number of students would increase.  It has evolved from being a “Primary School to being a Basic School”. We also started a program to empower the Chepang Woman installing sewing workshops in two of the school classrooms.

Today with a school that is growing, having used all the classrooms, our only choice is to build two more classrooms until the government decides to give us some help.  We first invested in the kitchen and now our only choice is to build two more classrooms and latrines.

For now, only temporarily, we have installed the classroom for the very young ones under the stairway in a very small open space, this can only last a short time if the weather is not cold while the classrooms are being built.

We have contemplated the possibility of building this is the traditional way with bricks, but being where we are, given the difficulty to be able to get the materials, we have decided that the best option would be to install prefab classrooms on the upper level of the already existing central building.

This is a clean and fast solution that would not interfere with the classes that are already taking place.  Nowadays there are very good prefabs in the market that last long.

Nevertheless, if in the future the government decides to build the new promised building in the land that we have acquired, we can move these classrooms to another place and use them for other activities.

This is a summary of the budget that we are considering.
