What is happening? The digital colonization that nobody tells you about.

The “cloud” hides a material and destructive reality. It is a bubble of out-of-control mega data centers. It is devouring Spain. Aragon is the main area being sacrificed.

These infrastructures require a lot of energy and water, occupy fertile land, and generate little local employment or tax revenue. The profits are lost, while we pay the ecological and social costs.

The Government of Aragon has granted Amazon PIGA status. This allows them to expropriate land, rezone land, avoid taxes and deadlines, with little public participation. It is a law tailor-made for multinationals.

RTVE program on the impact of data centers

What have we done? Civil society is rising up.

In response to this outrage, a broad alliance—Ecologistas en Acción Aragón, the neighborhood movements TuNubeSecaMiRío and No a los centros de datos Aragón, university researchers, the UNESCO Chair in Sustainable Human Development, and other associations—has filed the first contentious-administrative appeal by Spanish civil society against a data center project. We have already exhausted the avenue of appeals (with the support of seven organizations) without success. Now, our only tool is the justice system.

What are we going to do? A lawsuit that could make history.

We have filed an appeal with the High Court of Justice of Aragon (TSJA) to overturn Amazon's illegitimate PIGA. This would not only stop five new megacenters in Zaragoza, Huesca, Villanueva de Gállego, El Burgo de Ebro, and La Sotonera, but it would also set a crucial legal precedent for the entire country, a barrier against the speculative data bubble.

We are represented by Fons de Defensa Ambiental, lawyers who are experts in environmental law. We don't have Amazon's millions, but we do have knowledge, reason, and determination. We need your support to pay for this legal battle.

What do we need? You are the key piece.

The minimum cost to maintain this appeal is €7,300. This covers essential legal expenses.

Every extra euro will be a victory:

  • If we exceed the goal, we will allocate the funds to scientific expert reports on the environmental impact.
  • And we will allocate funds to new litigation against the wave of data centers and the vulture funds that drive it.

Help us today! Donate to defend Aragon and set a precedent throughout Spain. Make your contribution and share this campaign: your action is decisive.

Contribute by participating and sharing. Spread the word about this campaign on your social media and tell your family and friends. Join the defense of Aragón and many other territories against a predatory model.

Together we can show that organized citizens can stand up to the giants. Let's not let them write the rules to suit themselves!
