In November 2017 I was diagnosed with cervical cancer, but I was one of the lucky ones and fortunately after an operation I needed no further treatment. However, having been through that experience, I know how frightening and lonely it can be at times despite being surrounded by loved ones. I contacted the Mallorca Cancer Support group and found their help invaluable. They do an amazing job of supporting the ever increasing number of people affected by cancer and I now feel it's time to give back and to help them continue their work. I plan to do this and help my own recovery to full fitness by challenging myself to climb Mt Kilimanjaro ( at 5895m the highest mountain in Africa) in December 2019.
Somos una asociación pequeña que ayudamos a pacientes extranjeros con cáncer con apoyo emocional, nutricional, etc en su propia idioma, además de traductores, tratamientos suplementarios y ayuda practica en la casa.

So, the final Friday cake donation is 115 euros which is from cakes made in January and includes 2 large donations from kind colleagues at The Academy school who put money into my charity tin anonymously. Thank you all for eating cake and donating so generously.

I’m delighted to be adding this €500 to my fund which was raised by the wonderful PTA at the Academy School who worked so hard to set up a beautiful harvest festival celebration and decided to donate all the proceeds to the Cancer Support group Mallorca. This 200 euros is the accumulation of funds collected since February on Friday mornings in The Academy staffroom in exchange for slices of cake that I bake. Thank you to all my generous colleagues - this shows that every little helps . ( In January I donated 1000 euros directly to Mallorca Cancer Support Group which was the results of the previous 15 months fund raising, again thanks to The Academy)
