Ayuda a los niños de Madagascar a conocer los desafíos del siglo XXI

Por desgracia, debido a la incertidumbre y al riesgo generados por el coronavirus, la implementación de los talleres educativos en Madagascar no podrá tener lugar este verano. Sin embargo, en estos momentos Les Enfants du Soleil necesitan más ayuda que nunca. El coronavirus ha conllevado graves problemas en Madagascar, entre ellos el aumento de precio de los alimentos (que en algunos casos se ha multiplicado por 5…). Es por ello que, después de haber pausado la recaudación durante la crisis sanitaria, ahora queremos retomar el crowdfunding para donar los fondos a la ONG y que los utilicen para hacer frente a los problemas que les está generando el Covid-19.

Hi everyone

Unfortunately, due to the uncertainty and the risk generated by coronavirus, we will be unable to implement the educational workshops in Madagascar this summer. However, right now Les Enfants du Soleil need more help than ever. Coronavirus is having an impact in Madagascar too. The prices of some basic food products have increased fivefold. This is why, after having put this campaign on hold during the health crisis, we are now relaunching it, to finish it and donate all the funds to the NGO so that they can use them for whatever they might need in this period of crisis.

P.S: If you donated to the original project and wish to recover your donation, please contact us before May 20th  (paloma.gob@alu.icai.comillas.edu). If we don’t hear from you before that date, your donation will be used to help Les Enfants du Soleil face the Covid-19 crisis.

Antes que nada, ¡muchas gracias por mostrar interés por el proyecto! Vuestra ayuda significa mucho para nosotros.

Con este crowdfunding se pretende conseguir financiación para la organización de talleres educativos en Madagascar durante el verano de 2020. El objetivo de estos talleres es introducir los desafíos del siglo XXI a los beneficiarios de la ONG francesa Les Enfants du Soleil, a través de una presentación de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible de la ONU, y el estudio de temáticas como el reciclaje, la economía circular y las energías renovables. Este objetivo encaja con la misión de la ONG, que aporta ayuda a niños malgaches en riesgo de exclusión, para ayudarles a reinsertarse en la sociedad como ciudadanos responsables. El proyecto está respaldado por la Fundación Ingenieros ICAI.

Somos Paloma, Patricia, Santiago y Lorenzo. En agosto viajaremos a Fianarantsoa, Madagascar, para realizar los talleres educativos. 

-------------------------------------------- ¿Por qué Madagascar? --------------------------------------------

Con una población de 26,2 millones de habitantes, se trata de uno de los países más pobres del mundo, en el que el 77,6% de los habitantes vive con menos de $1,9 al día. La población malgache es muy joven, con 18,75 años de media. Los colectivos con mayor riesgo de exclusión en este país son las mujeres, y en particular, los niños.

En Madagascar, las lagunas a nivel educativo son flagrantes. Prácticamente el 60% de los niños abandona la escuela primaria antes de terminarla, frente a un 2,6% en España. 

-------------------------------------------- Les Enfants du Soleil --------------------------------------------

Les Enfants du Soleil (EdS) es una asociación de interés general, que trabaja en Madagascar desde 1995 y emplea a más de 150 personas allí. Tiene tres misiones principales.

En primer lugar, acoge a niños y niñas de la calle. En Madagascar, muchos niños viven solos en la calle: o bien sus padres los han abandonado, o bien han fallecido, o bien siguen viéndolos de vez en cuando, pero no son capaces de mantenerlos... La ONG se encarga de buscar a estos niños e intentar localizar a sus familias en el caso de que tengan. Si encuentran a un pariente capaz de ocuparse del niño, éste vuelve con su familia y la ONG realiza un seguimiento para verificar que no vuelve a la calle, aportándole una ayuda financiera. En el caso de no encontrar a nadie para ocuparse del niño, éste se queda en uno de los centros de la ONG donde vive con otros niños y educadores que cuidan de ellos.

La ONG proporciona a estos niños y niñas un hogar seguro y tres comidas al día, además de financiar su educación: primero el colegio, y más adelante formaciones como carpinteros, camareros, cocineros, agricultores... También les ayudan a buscar un empleo, y así se completa el ciclo de reinserción de estos niños, que vivían sin recursos en la calle, en la sociedad, a los veintiún años aproximadamente.

Por otro lado, la ONG también lleva centros de ayuda para madres con hijos pequeños. En ellos se acoge, durante un período más corto (uno o dos años), a madres con bebés o hijos pequeños, que viven en la calle. Además de proporcionarles un lugar donde vivir y comer durante este tiempo, la ONG les ofrece una formación, para que, transcurrida su estancia en el centro, puedan reinsertarse en la sociedad y tener un trabajo digno.

Finalmente, la ONG también financia algunos comedores escolares en la región de Tulear, permitiendo a los niños y niñas de la zona a acceder a al menos una comida diaria.

--------------------------------------- Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible ---------------------------------------

En 2015 se firmó la Agenda 2030 para el Desarrollo Sostenible, que presenta los 17 Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) de la imagen.

La Agenda pretende poner en marcha un movimiento global en el que todos los Estados y personas, incluyendo a los más vulnerables, actúen conjuntamente para conseguir alcanzar los ODS. Se trata de la hoja de ruta del mundo, firmada por 193 países, entre ellos Madagascar.

Les Enfants du Soleil financian y facilitan la formación de sus beneficiarios durante todo el tiempo que sea necesario hasta su reinserción en la sociedad. Todos los niños acogidos por la ONG van al colegio, y tienen acceso a formaciones posteriores que les permitan tener un trabajo y vivir una vida digna después de su infancia acogidos por la ONG. Asimismo, la ONG ofrece formaciones para las madres con hijos pequeños.

La educación es pues un eje clave de la misión de la ONG; a la que le gustaría, a través de este proyecto, reforzar la formación de sus beneficiarios permitiéndoles profundizar en conceptos que los conviertan en ciudadanos responsables.

Este crowdfunding pretende recaudar fondos para poder montar los talleres este verano, e ir con un equipo de cuatro personas a impartirlos en Fianarantsoa, Madagascar. El dinero será utilizado para comprar materiales y libros para los talleres, y financiar una parte del transporte allí.

The aim of this crowdfunding is to obtain financing for the organisation of educational workshops in Madagascar during the summer 2020. The objective of the workshops is to introduce the challenges of our time to the beneficiaries of the French NGO Les Enfants du Soleil, through a presentation of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, and the study of topics such as recycling, circular economy and renewable energies. If they find them, and if these relatives can take care of the children, then the children go back to their families, and the NGO gives these families financial support so that the children never go back to living in the street. If the children do not have anyone to take care of them, they stay in one of the NGO’s centres, where they live with other children and the educators that supervise them.

The NGO provides these children with a safe home and three meals a day, apart from financing their education: first, school, and then, apprenticeships to become bartenders, waiters, cooks, farmers, carpenters… They help them find a job, to complete the cycle and reinsert the children into society, at the age of twenty-one.

The NGO also has centres for mothers with babies or young children. They live there for a shorter period of time, a couple years. They are fed and taken care of, while the mothers learn a craft, to be later reinserted into society with a decent job.

Lastly, the NGO finances charity canteens in the region of Tulear, giving the local children the chance to get at least one meal a day.

--------------------------------------- Sustainable Development Goals ---------------------------------------

The Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development was signed in 2015 and presents the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) you can see on the image.

The Agenda intends to kick off a global movement in which all States and people, including those more vulnerable, act together to attain the SDG. It is the world’s roadmap, signed by 193 countries, with Madagascar among them.

The Enfants du Soleil finance and facilitate the education of their beneficiaries for as long as needed, until they are reinserted into society. All the children hosted by the NGO go to school and have access to apprenticeships, to allow them to get a job and have a dignified life after their childhood with the NGO. Likewise, the NGO teaches women in need a craft, so that they can take care of their children.

Education is key for the NGO that would like, through this project, to strengthen the awareness of its beneficiaries, enabling them to deepen their knowledge of concepts that will help them become responsible citizens.

----------------------------------------- How can you help? -----------------------------------------

The aim of this crowdfunding is to raise funds to be able to implement the workshops this summer and go to Fianarantsoa, Madagascar, with a team of four people, to talk to the NGO’s beneficiaries about the challenges of our century.

The money will be used to buy materials and books for the workshops, and to finance part of the transport to get to Madagascar.
