Liz's summer of running 2015

 This year I've set myself the challenge to overcome my laziness and become a proper runner. Starting with the Manchester 10k on 10th May, I'll be taking part in several running events over the summer, and ending my season on 4th October with a 10k in my home town of Winsford.

My main incentive, apart from getting fit and seeing my times improve, will be to raise funds for the fantastic Josep Carreras International Leukaemia Foundation. This charity has been very close to my heart for over 25 years, and it's been incredible to see the advances in leukaemia research and treatment which have happened in that time. So, update on June 25: I finished the Manchester 10k despite an annoying hip injury. Did it in 1hr 19 minutes 36 seconds and came 23059th... Plenty of room for improvement before October! I've also started going to my local Parkrun every Saturday. It's in the beautiful Delamere Forest in Cheshire, and the 5k course in on wooded trails around a lake. 35 mins 33 seconds is my PB so far...

I'll be wearing my Foundation t-shirt proudly at every event I run in, to raise awareness and show my solidarity with this cause. Juntos somos imparables!
