Architects Without Borders has been working continously in Burkina Faso since 2002 focusing in two main performance lines: in one hand, working on the strengthening of the local organizations, with the actors of endogenous development and in the productive and formative field, mainly in the rural sector. On the other hand, in the educational field, contributing to the improvement of the access to the primary school network, for both children(public primary schools) and adults (literacy classrooms).

Last July 2013, we carried out an identification trip through which we visited the school of Bissiga, a village situated in the commune of Ziga, at the region of Sanmatenga (Burkina Faso). The existent school was a “école of paillote” (straw school, self-constructed, through the parents's association of the village. Because of the lack of resources, the school was in poor conditions and it had not the minimum requirements neither the necessary capacity for the children of the village and surroundings.

The aim of the project is the replacement and extension of the existent school, endowing it with an own water well and enable it for its correct operation.

By means of the building of this School Centre we will facilitate the access to the educational public network, decreasing the distances and increasing and improving the educational resources for the children of the surruonding villages of Bissiga. The construction of this school will contribute to increase the percentage of centres to the country, with such low-level education, especially in the rural zones.

Arquitectos Sin Fronteras lleva trabajando en Burkina Faso desde el año 2002 de manera continua centrándose en dos líneas de actuación principales: por un lado, trabajando en el fortalecimiento de asociaciones de base, con los actores de desarrollo endógeno y en el ámbito productivo y formativo, principalmente en el sector rural. Por otro lado, en el ámbito educativo, contribuyendo a la mejora del acceso a la red primaria tanto para niños (escuelas primarias públicas) cómo para adultos (aulas de alfabetización).

El el pasado mes de Julio'13, realizamos un viaje de identificación en el que visitamos la escuela de Bissiga, un poblado situado en la comuna de Ziga, en la región de Sanmatenga. La escuela existente era una “école de paillote” (esculea de paja), autoconstruida por la asociación de padres del poblado. Debido a la falta de recursos, la escuela estaba en muy mal estado y no tenía las condiciones ni la capacidad necesaria para que los niños del poblado y alrededores pudieran disponer de una escuela con las mínimas garantías.

El objetivo del proyecto es la sustitución y ampliación de la escuela existente, dotarla de un pozo propio y habilitarla para su correcto funcionamiento.

Mediante la construcción de éste Centro Escolar facilitaremos el acceso a la red pública educativa, disminuyendo las distancias y ampliando y mejorando los recursos educativos de los niños y niñas de los poblados de los alrededores de Bissiga. La construcción de esta escuela contribuirá a aumentar el porcentaje de centros en el país, que tiene un nivel de educación muy bajo, especialmente en las zonas rurales.

Información actualizada a través de un nuevo blog en el que podrás hacer el seguimiento de la construcción de las clases previstas ( 3 en el total del proyecto). La construcción de las mismas empezará el próximo mes d Octubre'14.

Al finalizar el proyecto (previsto para Julio'159, recibirás información gráfica de la totalidad del proyecto constructivo (mejoras y ampliaciones del Centro de Escuela Primaria)i toda aquella que puedas necesitar.
