Thanks for visiting our fundraising page! On Sunday 27th August, we will be taking on Ironman Vichy, a triathlon involving a 2.4mi open water swim, a 112mi bike ride and a 26.2mi run. This means we will swim, bike and run the distance between London & Sheffield in a day. It might be fair to say the main driver to take on this challenge was foolishness, but we thought it would be a great opportunity to raise funds for a worthy cause, Fundacion Aladina.
Our chosen charity
Fundacion Aladina is a Spanish non profit which helps children, teenagers and their families when they are battling cancer. This includes emotional support and activities run by volunteers, psychologists for kids and their families, funding & building facilities in public hospitals and providing financial help to families to ensure they can be with the children when they need to. You can find out more about the foundation and their work on their website (in English).
When my sister Ana went through several months of cancer treatment in 2008, the volunteers from Aladina were some of the people we all looked forward to seeing every day, and the fact she has remained close friends with them many years on shows their dedication to everyone that goes through the hospitals they work in. Having personally seen the great work they do, I can vouch for the people involved in the foundation, and believe the funds donated are used judiciously and effectively.
Any contributions will be appreciated, and Google will match all donations, so whatever you can give will have double the impact!

¡Gracias por visitar la página de nuestro reto! El Domingo 27 de Agosto nos enfrentaremos al Ironman Vichy, un triatlón de larga distancia que incluye 3.8km de natación en aguas abiertas, 180km de bicicleta y 42.2 km corriendo. Un total de 226 km, o la distancia entre Madrid y Albacete. Nos gustaría utilizar este reto para recaudar fondos por una buena causa, y hemos elegido la Fundacion Aladina.
Que es la Fundacion Aladina
El objetivo de esta ONG es ayudar a menores enfermos de cancer y a sus familias. Proporcionan ayuda emocional, psicológica y material en hospitales públicos de toda España, con foco principal en el Hospital Niño Jesus de Madrid, uno de los centros de referencia en España en oncología pediátrica. Puedes encontrar mucha más información sobre las labores que desempeña la fundación en su web o su última memoria anual.
En 2008 tuve la oportunidad de ver de cerca el excelente trabajo que lleva a cabo la fundación mientras mi hermana Ana llevo a cabo su tratamiento contra el cancer en el Niño Jesus. El apoyo emocional de los voluntarios de Aladina y la ayuda que proporcionan a los médicos y enfermeras del hospital nos dejó huella. La excelente relación que Ana y el resto de nosotros continua teniendo con la fundación son testigos de ello.
Cualquier donación que podáis dejar les ayudara a continuar desempeñando su labor, y además Google doblara el total de donaciones, así que vuestro impacto será doble!
La Fundación Aladina, es una entidad privada sin ánimo de lucro creada en 2005 con el objetivo de ayudar a niños y adolescentes enfermos de cáncer y a sus familias, proporcionándoles apoyo integral: material, psicológico y emocional.
